In 2020 the beneficiaries of the Car Rally proceeds were for people impacted by the bushfires and the Kokoda Track Foundation.
In 2021 the major beneficiary is Respite Camps for kids with special needs and their families.
Each year the Lions Club of Park Orchards in conjunction with Lions Clubs of Forest Hill, Box Hill, South Vermont and Vermont, and combined with Interchange Inner East Interchange Outer East, facilitate special needs family camps at the Licola Wilderness Camp in the Gippsland high country. Respite Camps at Licola is a great opportunity for parents to relax. They are able to have time out while their children are placed with professional carers for several hours at a time.
An observation of the camps is a significant difference in mental state of all who attend the camp from the time of arrival through to the Sunday with the following anecdote from one parent who stated that because the camp had entertained and worn the kids out, it was first time in years that this parent had two great uninterrupted nights’ sleep.
